I just got my manuscript, Seductive Thesis, back from its first round of editing. Was it worth the money? Editing in general is definitely worth every penny if you get a good editor. But when you're a new writer, how do you know you're getting your money's worth? I guess only time will tell.
Instead of choosing amongst the dizzying number of freelance editors, I chose to go with CreateSpace. Yes, I've read the good and not so good reviews of their services. In the end I selected them because I felt that I would receive, at the very least, decent standard service. At some point, I will try a freelancer.
As I expected, the bulk of the line-edits and comments that I got from my editor were related to style (Chicago Manual of Style). Of course there were a few high-level comments that I'll be wrestling with over the next week or so, then I'll get another round of editing--more money. Hopefully, it'll be in better shape next round.
I'm still on track to get this published by the end of March, 2104.
